The B.O.B Story

The Bar on Buena is the realization of a dream by two high school friends (Aaron Zacharias and Steve Podjasek) who were sick of corporate life. The idea: Open a neighborhood bar with an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of the cafes of Europe while offering a global selection of craft beers and whiskies previously not available in any local bar at that time. Essentially, we wanted a place that we could enjoy and merely hoped that others would agree. After years of looking we found a little spot nestled in Buena Park and opened our doors on July 5th, 2003.

It's been a long time since then and we’ve seen dramatic change in our industry, mostly positive that has allowed us to capitalize on our original vision. Our lovingly (and painstakingly) curated beverage program now has 23 beers on draft, 90 in bottles and cans, over 300 whiskies, a full cocktail program and a rotating selection of 13 wines by the glass and bottle. The key to the program has never been the quantity but those that possess the knowledge and passion behind it. Our tiny, fully visible kitchen is still producing some of the best burgers in town and the long tenured staff are always developing new fare, often with our signature Mexican twist.

So here we are now, very grateful to all of those who have supported us over the past 15 years. We’ll always strive to provide you with a unique local experience in your culinary and liquid endeavors. Looking back, now I guess you could say we were the original neighborhood Burger, Beer and Whiskey bar. We hope to continue that tradition and humbly thank you for you patronage.

About the Kitchen

Our tiny, fully visible kitchen doesn’t allow us to serve a lot of fancy dishware, but we make up for that with passion and ingenuity! The BoB’s kitchen focuses on locally sourced fresh ingredients whenever possible and we proudly cook in front of all of our guests. We’ve been grilling unique takes on hand-patted half pound burgers for 15 years alongside a rotating selection fine pub fare, many owing to their Mexican inspiration. A good portion of these dishes are created by our long time Kitchen Manager, Antonio Garcia. Antonio has spent over 15 years curating American and Mexican foods professionally and for friends and family alike. We welcome you to enjoy our delicious cuisine with the knowledge of our menus provenance and creative passion.
